Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They are widely used to make websites work, remember your preferences, and provide information to website owners about how their site is used.
Not all cookies are the same. Some are essential for the website to function. Others remember your preferences. Others collect analytics data. Others are set by third-party services embedded in the site. This policy explains every category of cookie we use, what each one does, who sets it, and how long it stays on your device.
The Scrubbing Squad mobile app does not use browser cookies. Cookies are a website technology. This policy covers scrubbingsquad.com only. The app (Island 2) stores data on your device using native mobile storage, not browser cookies.
We use four categories of cookies on this website. The categories are defined by the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) and the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR).
Strictly necessary cookies do not require your consent. They are set automatically and cannot be disabled without breaking the website.
These cookies are essential for the website to function. They enable form submissions, protect against security attacks, and maintain your session if you are logged in. Without them, parts of the website would not work. We do not require your consent to set strictly necessary cookies. You cannot opt out of them without disabling the website.
Functional cookies remember your preferences and improve your experience. For example, if you have a language preference, a functional cookie saves it so you do not need to reset it each visit. We require your consent to set functional cookies. You can withdraw consent at any time using the cookie preference manager (link in the footer of every page).
Analytics cookies help us understand how visitors use our website. We use privacy-respecting analytics with IP anonymisation enabled. We do not use Google Analytics with cross-site tracking enabled. We do not share analytics data with advertising networks. Analytics data is aggregate and anonymised: we see page views, session counts, and popular pages, not individual user profiles.
We require your consent to set analytics cookies. Rejecting analytics cookies does not affect your ability to use any part of this website.
If you are on our founding supporter waitlist, Attio (our CRM) and Customer.io (our email platform) may set cookies when you arrive at our website from a link in one of our emails. These cookies link your website visit to your email subscriber record so that Customer.io can track which emails led to which page visits. This helps us understand whether our email content is relevant.
We require your consent to set Customer.io cookies. If you are not on the waitlist, or if you reject this cookie category, no Customer.io cookies are set.
The table below lists every cookie currently set on scrubbingsquad.com, its purpose, who sets it, how long it persists, and whether it requires your consent. If we add new cookies in future we will update this table and notify Founding Supporters by email.
On your first visit to scrubbingsquad.com, a cookie consent banner will appear. It gives you three choices:
• Accept All: all cookie categories are set, including functional, analytics, and third-party
• Reject Non-Essential: only strictly necessary cookies are set. Functional, analytics, and Customer.io cookies are not set
• Manage Preferences: choose which categories to accept individually
Your choice is stored in a cookie called CookieConsent (a strictly necessary cookie that records your preference). We will not show the banner again until your preference expires (12 months) or you clear your cookies.
You can change your cookie preferences at any time by clicking 'Cookie Preferences' in the footer of any page on this website. This reopens the consent manager. Your new preference takes effect immediately for new cookies. It does not remove cookies already set during the current session -- those will expire normally.
All major browsers allow you to view, block, and delete cookies through their settings. Here is how to find those settings in the most common browsers:
• Google Chrome: Settings > Privacy and Security > Cookies and other site data
• Mozilla Firefox: Settings > Privacy and Security > Cookies and Site Data
• Safari (macOS): Preferences > Privacy > Manage Website Data
• Safari (iOS): Settings > Safari > Advanced > Website Data
• Microsoft Edge: Settings > Cookies and site permissions > Manage and delete cookies
Blocking all cookies will prevent some features of this website from working correctly. Strictly necessary cookies cannot be blocked on a per-site basis in most browsers -- they are set when you load the page and are cleared when you close the browser (session cookies) or at their stated expiry.
If you have accepted analytics cookies and want to opt out of analytics tracking specifically, you can do so through the Manage Preferences option in the cookie banner footer link. You can also use the analytics provider's own opt-out tool. Our analytics provider is [INSERT NAME] -- their opt-out instructions are available at [INSERT OPT-OUT URL].
If you are on the founding supporter waitlist and want to stop Customer.io tracking your website visits from email links, reject the 'Third-Party / Email' category in the cookie preference manager. You can also unsubscribe from our emails at any time using the unsubscribe link in any email -- this removes your subscriber record from Customer.io entirely, which stops all Customer.io cookies from being set.
The Scrubbing Squad mobile app (Island 2) does not use browser cookies. It is a native mobile application. Data it stores on your device is governed by our Privacy Policy at /privacy-policy, not by this cookie policy. The app does not embed a web browser. It does not set cookies.
The Scrubbing Squad shop runs on Shopify, a separate platform on a separate subdomain. Shopify manages its own cookie infrastructure. When you visit the shop, you will see Shopify's cookie consent banner, which is separate from the banner on scrubbingsquad.com. Shopify's cookie policy explains the cookies set on the shop subdomain.
If you follow a link from this website to a third-party site (for example, our social media profiles or the Shopify shop), those sites have their own cookie policies. We have no control over and no responsibility for cookies set by third-party websites.
We will update this policy if we add new cookies, change existing cookies, or if our analytics or email provider changes. If we add a new cookie category (for example, a new type of third-party service), we will reshow the consent banner so you can update your preference.
We will notify Founding Supporters by email of any material change to this policy. The current version is always published at /cookies. The version number and effective date at the top of this page confirm which version is live.
