Sgt. Peck is the Squad's relentless engine of Elite Excellence. He was the very first recruit Uncle Jamie ever had, and he nearly broke the whole mission before it began. He was a highly decorated Special Forces trainer who believed discipline alone could solve anything. It could not. It took four spectacular failures, and one small child's drawing, to teach him otherwise. Today he is Chief of Training Missions, running Discovery Camp with all the precision he brought from the Special Forces, but pointed at something new.

Pvt. Pack had been bricklaying for twelve years using the same methods, the same tools, and the same approach to every job. He was fast, reliable, and completely unprepared when a construction project required techniques he had never learned. He had been offered training twice and declined both times, reasoning that his methods worked and new methods were unnecessary.
The project stalled. A younger colleague with fewer years and more current skills was brought in to complete it. Pvt. Pack watched, and understood that the knowledge he had refused to update had become the obstacle.
When the band broke up, Pvt. Pack threw himself entirely into physical work. Longer days. More sites. More weight carried. He told himself that keeping busy was the same as being fine. It was not. The music had been the thing that balanced everything else, and without it the work became relentless and eventually hollow.
He got through each day efficiently and felt nothing at the end of it. He had been treating his mental health the way he treated a broken tool: by working around it rather than fixing it.
Pvt. Pack was on a remote musical tour with the band, covering long distances between small venues. He was meticulous about the van, the equipment, and the logistics. He was considerably less meticulous about the campsites they left behind. Waste not properly dealt with. Ground not restored.
He had packed everything he needed and had not thought once about what he was leaving. A local ranger caught up with them two days later, issued a fine, and spent ten minutes explaining the environmental impact in terms Pvt. Pack found genuinely mortifying.
Pvt. Pack was working a large, noisy construction site when a colleague began showing signs of significant distress. He noticed something was wrong. He did not know what to do about it. He kept working, reasoning that his colleague was a capable adult and would manage.
The colleague had a sensory processing sensitivity that the environment was overwhelming. A minor accident followed, directly related to the distress Pvt. Pack had seen and not acted on. He had spotted the problem and lacked the knowledge to respond to it.
