Meet Sgt. Vest

Open the file. Everything from why he shouts to the day he learned not to.

Story

Sgt. Peck is the Squad's relentless engine of Elite Excellence. He was the very first recruit Uncle Jamie ever had, and he nearly broke the whole mission before it began. He was a highly decorated Special Forces trainer who believed discipline alone could solve anything. It could not. It took four spectacular failures, and one small child's drawing, to teach him otherwise. Today he is Chief of Training Missions, running Discovery Camp with all the precision he brought from the Special Forces, but pointed at something new.

The mental crash

Sgt. Vest pushed a young recruit named Felix through a training session he was not ready for. Felix had been tired, anxious and struggling for days. Vest had seen the signs and decided the answer was more effort, not less. Felix shut down completely during the third circuit. He sat on the floor, silent, unable to move or speak. Vest stood over him with no idea what to do. He had broken a child with his own training, and Felix did not come back.

Lesson:
"Strength without support is just pressure."

Refresh Camp

The hidden hazard

Sgt. Vest kept the training camp spotless. Floors clean, kit organised, uniforms pressed. He was meticulous about every kind of cleanliness he could see. Then three recruits developed mild skin infections from shared training equipment that had never been properly sanitised between uses. He had been cleaning around the problem, not through it. The hazard he could not see had been there the whole time.

Lesson:
"Hygiene is not just what you can see."

Guardian Camp

The unnecessary risk

During an outdoor mission, Sgt. Vest chose a faster route across uneven ground. He could handle it easily, so he assumed the recruits could too. A child using a mobility aid lost their balance on the slope. Nobody was seriously hurt, but the child was shaken, and the trust Vest had spent weeks building was gone in thirty seconds.

Lesson:
"Safety is non-negotiable. Elite strength cannot override a failure of planning."

Discovery Camp

The intimidating lesson

Sgt. Vest delivered a session on nutrition and recovery. He knew the subject inside out. He stood at the front, spoke loudly and with complete authority, and covered every single point. Not one child asked a question. Afterwards, a small voice told him the truth: "You were a bit scary. I did not understand it, but I did not want to ask."

Lesson:
"Education requires safety. The body must be relaxed for the mind to absorb anything."
